Feb 5, 2026David thanks for trying Mini Mealie! Mini Mealie does a "dry-run" against new website visits to help detect recipes. It does not actually try to create the recipe. The purpose is entirely to benefit the user to give them feedback whether a recipe is detected. It does not actually attempt recipe creation. It just utilizes Mealie's test-scrape endpoint. Recipe creation is only attempted when the user chooses to do so. I think your comment provides a lot of great feedback because it gives the idea to let the user toggle off recipe detection. Some people might not find that feature valuable.

Oct 9, 2025So far, I'm loving this extension. I used to use cooked.wiki but moved to Mealie just recently and it works pretty well. I have a couple URLs that don't seem to detect. @Adam - How can I send these to you so you can see what's up and why their not detecting that it's a recipe?

Jul 27, 2025After spending hours scripting recipe imports from a couple of my favorite non-Mealie compliant web sites, I was so pleased to see an extension like this exists for many, many more sites. Combined with Share to Mealie on my phone, I've now got all bases covered. Well done mate - this is such a time saver.

Jul 23, 2025EDIT: Thurs, July 24th 2:51PM MT - Thanks so much for your feedback. The fixes have been published, and the latest version should update automatically through Chrome within a few hours. If you want to update immediately, you can go to chrome://extensions/, enable Developer mode, and click the “Update” button. EDIT: Wed, July 23 11:35AM MT - I am releasing a fix removing the redundant paywall toggle and repair of the ability to create recipes when connecting to a local mealie server. I will update when that version is released and reviewed by the chrome store. Thanks for your patience! EDIT: Wed, July 23 10AM MT - upon further investigation when using a local Mealie server (e.g., http://192.168.1.x:3000), Chrome may automatically upgrades the request to HTTPS when the extension runs the create recipe call in the context of the current page. This causes the request to fail. Hey Mike, thanks for taking the time to leave feedback! Mini Mealie is still early in development, so I really appreciate your patience. If the extension isn’t working for you, one common issue might be the “Paywall” toggle. It’s enabled by default, but a recent change to the external paywall service caused some issues. Since Mealie already bypasses most paywalls on its own, the toggle is no longer necessary, and we’re expediting the release of a new version that removes it entirely. In the meantime, try disabling the paywall option in the popup and see if that resolves the issue. If not, I’d love to help troubleshoot further. Feel free to open an issue at GitHub or email me at atom@shaplabs.net.
